Alma Dance Company & UNO

are Bringing Ballet to Your School!

Alma Dance Company and the United Neighborhoods Organization (UNO) have recently joined efforts to bring to the Latino youth of Chicago, the opportunity to experience classical ballet; the starting point of any professional dancer!

The partnership between UNO and Alma will build confidence, sense of accomplishment, natural creativity, and body skill development to all participating Latino youngsters in an after school program that started at the end of August 2009.

This ambitious but doable project demands $35,000 per quarter for its continuity during the academic year. We need the best ballet trainers, appropriate ballet attire, ballet equipment, and we are counting on you to help us raise those funds.

ALMA is Spanish for soul, spirit, and heart. Chicago's newest ballet company will embody these very qualities making classical ballet one of the most enjoyable and revered art forms of all times.

With a fresh new outlook, Alma Dance Company will bring the grand classical ballets of Europe and the world to the stages of Chicago. The ballets will be presented in their most original form; original stories, original choreographies, original music - and taken one step further. Alma will merge the ballets with Jazz, Gospel, Latin, the Blues, and more. Live musicians will heighten and enliven the experience.

In presenting the beauty of the classical Ballets with a newer, non-traditional feel, the Alma Dance Company will be approachable and understandable for people of all ages, languages, and cultures. The Alma Dance Company will broaden the public and community interest in classically danced ballet.
